Wikipedia defines a monk as a person who practices religious asceticism, living either alone or with any number of monks, while always maintaining some degree of physical separation from those not sharing the same purpose. The concept is ancient and can be seen in many religions and in philosophy… I know their lives are devout, and probably very difficult. But there are at least three reasons why being a monk in Thailand would be awesome:
Number 1: Fashion
No need to spend money on clothes, or shoes. No need to worry about fixing hair, because it’s always cut short.
Colourblind? No problem. Everyone’s got the same colour robe. And it looks wonderfully comfortable too, if you ask me.
Number 2: Public Transportation
That’s right. Forget the senior citizens and the injured persons. Give your seats up to the monks on the bus!
Number 3: Airport Lounges
Every airport in Thailand has its own waiting room specifically for monks. Awesome, right?
I think it’s rad. Another one of those things you just don’t see at home, you know? :)
