Head Soccer. Or, soccer with heads. Another reason why Korea is awesome.

So I was at the gym the other day, running on the treadmill and flipping channels to find that one English program to zone out to while getting my cardio, when I came across the most amazing thing I have ever seen in the history of things.

It was a soccer game. A very, very intense soccer game, with a referee and a large crowd. Only there were just two players per team, and the field was the size of a ping-pong table. And there was no running involved. In fact, there was no body movement involved whatsoever, except for the movements of the players’ heads.

Picture a small, artificial turf field. Picture it set atop a ping-pong table, with a goal about 3 feet wide on either end of the field. The goal is an exact replica of a professional football net, only miniature. Inside each net are two circular holes, out of which protrude two human heads. The players sit under the field and use their heads and mouths to block the ball, pass the ball, blow the ball, and shoot on the opponent’s net.

Thankfully I had my phone on me, and regardless of the fact that everyone around me seemed to think I was crazy, I used the opportunity to snap a few photos of this most intriguing cultural phenomena.

I’m tellin’ ya. There’s never a dull moment in this country. ^.^
